Bridge House’s mission is to address the immediate survival needs of homeless and working poor individuals and provide resources that can lead to employment, housing, personal stability and healing.
Volunteering opportunities at Bridge House
Most volunteer opportunities are Monday–Friday, though they occasionally have special projects on the weekends, too. Here are some of the most in-demand opportunities, most of which involve directly serving clients, or even working alongside them, which provides potent moments of meaningful interactions:
· Serve meals to guests at breakfast and lunch at the Bridge House (some light food prep and dish cleaning included). Volunteer servers needed 5 days a week, for 2.5 hour shifts.
· Be part of the fabulous cooking crew and cook all of the nutritious and delicious meals for the week. They have a lot of fun and do such important work !Opportunities available Monday–Thursday mornings from approximately 8:30am–noon.
Other important volunteer opportunities:
· Data entry and other light office work is often needed during weekdays at Bridge House.
· Drivers are needed to pick up food around town from various restaurants on a weekly basis.Talk to the public about our organization at events like farmer’s markets, non-profit fairs, etc…
· Join our “Angel at the Table” program which is specifically designed to interact with our clients and give them personal attention and support in an informal atmosphere.
· During the late spring and summer months you can work in the garden alongside clients which provides nutritious produce for our meals.
· Offer help with job placement programs: leading mock interviews, helping with resumes or assisting with their onine job search.
· They’re currently looking for a hairdresser to offer haircuts to our clients.
· Join a committee such as the Fundraising or Events committees. These are important groups that report to the Board of Directors and they need more active members!
