Roma Gypsies in Serbia have long experienced extreme poverty. Families, mainly led by women, live in difficult circumstances with little hope for a better future. Husbands, once present, leave to find work and fail to return. One woman, Snezana, has been trained in community development and has taken on the challenge of traveling to nearby villages with the training needed for helping in the key areas of self-sustainability (e.g., education, income, wellness, etc.). In order to do her work, she spends long hours on the bus. Part of grant will go toward providing her with a quality used vehicle to allow her freedom to make a greater impact with her people.
